Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering rules the word of Engineering by being one of the largest, broadest, and oldest engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers use the principles of energy, materials, and mechanics to design and manufacture machines and devices of all types. Being the spine of all processes and systems, this branch drives the growth of technology and industry. Engineers in this discipline are expected to work on power-producing machines such as electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines. They also work on power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material-handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment, and robots used in manufacturing. Other domains of this branch involve designing and controlling systems, testing new systems for feasibility and improvement. There is a great utility of this branch in a wide range of areas like automation, aerospace, chemical, computer, communication, paper, and power generation industries.

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Anand International College of Engineering is well equipped with a gamut of specialized equipment in laboratories to provide sound knowledge of the subjects by performing experiments. Rigorous workshop training in the areas of machine shop, fitting, carpentry, welding, sheet-metal and foundry etc. forms an inextricable part of the curriculum. Industrial Tours are arranged to boost up the exposure of the students for application of their theoretical knowledge and practical approach.

MECHANICAL WORKSHOPS:

The Mechanical and Production aspects are an integral part of Engineering. Hence to impart practical exposure to Mechanical Engineering from the first Year, the workshop has been established. The workshop has sections like Machine Shop, Fitting Shop, Welding and smithy section, Forging, Foundry, Production Process lab.

Salient features:
  • State–of–art modern Labs like Material Science Lab, Thermal Engineering Lab, and Dynamics of Machines Lab.
  • Computerized UTM with digital display for Material Testing.
  • Working Models of Petrol & Diesel Engines (cut sections of 2 and 4 stroke engines and complete chassis of 4 wheeler.)
  • High resolution Microscope with CCD camera to study micro structures of materials.
  • High Temperature Muffle Furnace.
  • Facility for Fatigue and Tension Testing.
Career Opportunities:
